HondaHowTo1 November 10, 2012 In my personal opinion, yes they are safer and better than jack stands. Good tips about the drain plug and gaskets and what too look for. Good thorough instructions, youre a good teacher. thanks for putting this out there. HondaHowTo1 November 10, 2012 Well, I started the car to make sure the oil went into the oil filter, because that effects the oil level. I did not check it while the engine was running. It doesn’t matter when you check your oil really, just as long as it’s been started once after you change your oil. samvivar November 10, 2012 you checked the oil while the engine was running. If i were to do that then the oil would be everywhere on the dipstick or it wouldnt give me an accureate reading. Is it better to do it with the engine off and after it sat there for a while? Placing the oil cap on the hood clamp (during the oil change) is a great tip. It’s basic maintenance but I knew I would learn something new. I did not know about API standards either.
